Summerland

We started our day in Summerland with a sumptuous 3-course breakfast at the Apples~N~Wine B&B. Liz creates amazing breakfasts, and Denis is the perfect “dumbwaiter” (inside joke). He is also a source of information. This B&B is very well set up, has information books, a journal, written by guests, do read and add to. There is a computer for guest’s use.  The hosts as well as their rooms are amazing!
Fortified after the wonderful breakfast we were ready to discover Summerland.
We drove to the Kettle Railway Steam Railway station. There we boarded the train, pulled (or rather: pushed at this point) by steam engine No. 3716. We passed through amazing scenery. Before a bridge (end of the line) the engine puffed ahead, changed tracks and went to the back of the train, so, on the way back, it was pulling the train. After our enjoyable train ride we visited some of the sights we spotted from the train. One of them was the “Dirty Laundry Vineyard“. We also sampled vinegar at “The Vinegar Works” at Valentine farms. Towards evening and after having stopped at several wineries, we wandered through the Summerland Ornamental Gardens, where we also has a view of the bridge where the steam train stopped in the morning. We had also re-visited that spot in the afternoon, catching the arrival of the afternoon train run.
We finished the day with a delicious dinner at “Local Lounge-Grille“.
